- Due to the nature of mother-of-pearl, pattern position and color vary slightly piece by piece.
- What is jagae (mother-of-pearl)?
- Jagae is natural mother-of-pearl cut thin from abalone shell; its colour changes with the light. Korean najeonchilgi, shell set into lacquer, dates back to the Goryeo dynasty. KDO card cases and hand mirrors use a natural shell panel on a stainless steel case, finished with an epoxy coating.
