FAQ

Is Sungnyemun the same as Namdaemun?
Yes. Sungnyemun is the official name of Seoul's old south gate, commonly called Namdaemun ("South Gate"). The name refers to the pattern, not to Namdaemun Market.
Who makes these?
Gukseon Otchil in the Republic of Korea. KDO sells them from stock in Cheonan, Korea.
Will the pattern look exactly like the photo?
Due to the nature of mother-of-pearl, pattern position and color vary slightly piece by piece.
What is jagae (mother-of-pearl)?
Jagae is natural mother-of-pearl cut thin from abalone shell; its colour changes with the light. Korean najeonchilgi, shell set into lacquer, dates back to the Goryeo dynasty. KDO card cases and hand mirrors use a natural shell panel on a stainless steel case, finished with an epoxy coating.
How do I care for it?
Avoid impact, water and alcohol; wipe with a dry cloth.
Do you ship abroad?
Order through Qoo10 (Japan) or Shopee (Singapore, Philippines and other markets).
